Mental & Behavioral Health Services
Mental Health Services at WellPower
Every person has mental health. Our brains are just as much a part of our bodies as our arms, legs and torso. And just like you go to the doctor for a physical checkup or when you’re sick, receiving mental health care is crucial for your continued well-being, whether you’re experiencing mental health challenges or simply checking in with a clinician.
WellPower is Colorado’s largest community mental health center, known locally and nationally as a model for innovative and effective mental and behavioral health care. Our nonprofit organization provides services for people across the lifespan at our 30+ sites and at nearly 200 locations throughout the community, from hospitals and assisted living facilities to schools and shelters.
We serve more than 20,000 people each year, including children and families, with crucial mental health services such as outpatient treatment, medication management, crisis response and more.
We also take a comprehensive approach to helping people get the support they need to thrive. This includes supportive housing, education and employment opportunities, financial health, access to nutritious food, other basic needs and much more.
If you're looking to access services for yourself or your child, we invite you to call us at (303) 504-7900.
How do I access mental health services?
To access mental health and behavioral health services at WellPower, the first thing to do is call the Access Center at (303) 504-7900. Staff will ask you questions over the phone to learn more about you or your child (ages 0-17). They will ask about the reasons you’re calling as well as some questions about your background, including whether you have the following information:
- Current and previous treatment information
- Insurance information
- Social Security number
This will help determine if WellPower is a good fit. After that, our staff help identify which services you or your family member may need.
Please contact us if you have any questions about accessing services for yourself, your minor child (ages 0-17) or other family members for whom you have guardianship. For more information about telehealth, visit our resources page here.

What is the difference between mental health and behavioral health?
Behavioral health is used to describe both mental health and substance use disorders. While mental health focuses specifically on psychological and emotional well-being, behavioral health also includes your actions (behaviors) such as diet, lifestyle, habits and substance use disorders, which can occur alongside mental health challenges (called co-occurring diagnoses).
At WellPower, we offer comprehensive behavioral health care, which covers both mental health services and support with the other parts of life that impact our mental health, like housing, substance use, access to healthy food, primary care and more.
What are the benefits of mental health services?
Accessing mental health services provides a wide range of benefits. Clinical teams at WellPower can work with you to assess your specific needs and learn what success looks and feels like to you.
One way to think about mental health care is like a toolbox. When you receive services and work with a clinical team at WellPower, we help you to gather tools in your toolbox and learn how to use them when you need them.
With time, practice and patience, you can get better at using your mental health tools, finding ways to navigate challenges in your life in healthy ways and achieving success in ways that are meaningful to you.
We also know that when your well-being is good, it positively impacts the people closest to you. That positive effect ripples out to the people they know, too, improving the lives of their friends and loved ones.
When you invest the time and care into getting mental health services – whether you’re in acute need or simply want someone to talk to about your life – you can make a positive difference for yourself and the people around you.
What kinds of diagnoses can WellPower help with?
We can help with all kinds of mental health disorders and diagnoses. The most common mental health concerns in Colorado are anxiety, depression and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). We also see people who experience bipolar disorder, schizophrenia/schizoaffective disorders, other forms of psychosis and much more.
We know that roughly 1 in 4 Coloradans have a mental health challenge or have reported symptoms of mental illness. As an outpatient community mental health center, we are able to serve a wide range of mental health needs. We provide therapy, psychiatry, case management, counseling, peer support, work and education training, classes, housing and so much more. If we don’t provide a service you need, we can also refer you to someone local who can help.
When should I consider mental health services?
If you’re experiencing significant disturbances in your thinking, emotions, behavior, or relationships with others, it may be a good time to seek professional help. Mental health challenges and disorders are extremely common and can be brought on by life events, age, genetics and many other factors.
At WellPower, we serve a wide range of needs – if you aren’t sure whether you would benefit from mental health services, we still encourage you to call our Access Center at (303) 504-7900 to find out more. Our intake specialists will talk to you about what you’re experiencing and can help you make an informed decision about your care.
How to find the right mental health care provider
When researching providers, finding the right match for you is important for your mental health journey. If there are specific qualifications or specializations you want to make sure your provider has, you can ask our intake specialists if there are clinicians available who meet those criteria.
The type of insurance you have can also play a role in how you receive services. WellPower provides a comprehensive list of insurance providers we accept here. We also know that navigating insurance can be extremely complicated – you are always welcome to contact our billing department at (303) 504-6580 to ask questions about your insurance and benefits.
What kinds of mental health services does WellPower offer?
