Earlier today, a student opened fire at East High School. Two administrators were injured and are receiving the medical care they need. As part of our school-based programs across Denver, WellPower staff provide ongoing services for students at East High School.
Acts of gun violence at schools shake us to the core. Schools should be places of safety and learning, and we are heartbroken every time that expectation of safety is violated. This ongoing phenomenon is unacceptable, and we must do more to end mass violence in our schools.
As the community mental health center for the people of Denver, including the neighborhoods and communities surrounding East High School, WellPower is committed to doing everything we can to make sure the students, families and staff we serve have the support they need to navigate these tragedies.
